Director of Engineering: 

Joe Wheeler EMC seeks candidates for the immediate opening of Director of Engineering. Requirements include BS Degree in Electrical Engineering.  A BS Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology may be substituted. Five years’ experience in electric power systems. Professional Engineering license or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment. Clear understanding of the operations of an electrical distribution cooperative, practice of accepted engineering design methods, and familiarity with RUS contracting procedures.

A minimum of an Associate's Degree in a business-related field is preferred. Knowledge of Human Resource activities, including employment practices, wage and benefits administration, and regulatory compliance is required.

SUBSTATION ENGINEER

Joe Wheeler EMC, located in North Alabama, is seeking an individual for the position of Substation Engineer.  The cooperative serves approximately 44,000 accounts in a two-county service area. The cooperative currently employs 104 employees and is headquartered at 25700 Al Hwy 24, Trinity, AL.

A BS in Electrical Engineering is required. A minimum of seven years of experience in electric utility system work is also required. Experience in substation operation and maintenance is preferred. Applicant must be capable of overseeing the maintenance of substations and related equipment, assist in SCADA implementation as well as developing and maintaining communications network for SCADA, oversee the construction of substations and substation expansions, assist in system coordination and work plan studies. Applicants must also be capable of supervisory responsibilities. 

The Substation Engineer reports to the Director of Engineering. The candidate’s background is required to include, among other attributes, a stable and verifiable work history with good references.

Dispatcher.  Joe Wheeler Electric Membership Cooperative seeks qualified applicants for an immediate opening.  Requirements:  High School Graduate or equivalent, Algebra I and II, minimum one year experience in the utility industry, dispatching and/or customer service, experience in operating personal computers, word processing, and spreadsheet programs.  Two-year degree in electricity/communications preferred.  Position subject to a 6-month probationary period.  Position subject to residency requirements of Joe Wheeler EMC.
